About this event
Greek Life 101: The Divine Nine Perspective is an interactive educational program designed to introduce students to Florida A&M University’s National Pan-Hellenic Council and its nine historically Black fraternities and sororities. The program will feature a panel of one representative from each of FAMU’s nine NPHC chapters. Before the event, students will have an opportunity to submit questions anonymously.
These questions will be organized into categories and presented through a Jeopardy-style format. Audience members will select a category and point value, and panelists will respond based on their experiences and perspectives. Discussion categories may include: Divine Nine history and traditions NPHC and council operations Membership readiness and expectations Interest and rush meeting etiquette Appropriate and inappropriate ways to express interest Academic achievement, service, leadership, and brotherhood or sisterhood Hazing prevention and responsible membership Chapter similarities and differences Common myths and misconceptions Life before and after joining an NPHC organization Balancing membership with academics and other responsibilities The program is intended to educate students, increase awareness, review important dos and don’ts, and create a respectful space for honest conversation.

It will also allow students to become familiar with NPHC, learn from current members, and better understand that fraternity and sorority members are fellow Rattlers with diverse personalities, interests, responsibilities, and experiences. Greek Life 101 is not an interest meeting, recruitment event, or guarantee of membership. Students should attend prepared to listen, participate, and learn while respecting the histories, traditions, and membership-selection practices of each organization.
Through education and conversation, the Divine Nine Perspective will provide students with a more accurate and human-centered understanding of NPHC membership and the collective impact of the Divine Nine at FAMU.
